pleasant lyrics

"If you take [a copy of] the Christian Bible and put it out in the wind and the rain, soon the paper on which the words are printed will disintegrate and the words will be gone. Our bible IS the wind and the rain." Herbalist Carol McGrath as told to her by a Native-American woman.

i wrote this down a few weeks ago in relation to a little solo i'm building called from  form

strive to resist somatic memory, or experience of movements passed

i read it this morning, disagreed and wrote something else.

with the idea of departing from form, or memory, it is impossible not to imagine entering new form; in the process of leaving, you arrive. the act of attempting to depart from something is as contrived as trying to arrive at something, because in essence it is the same thing. any ‘effort’ to arrive or depart feels immersed in pretense and manufactured. i'm happy to know that now. i will try not to be judgemental of my history and how it may contextualise my thoughts, ideas and physical self, and also remain aware, but not dictate, what or where it is i may enter. [something about path finding in here] i think the best activity is to form tools from the thoughts you encounter in the space between departure and arrival

forward and reverse movement play for solo from  form

post session, movement directive: make one simple decision to move, then make another before you can satisfy the initial decision.

i am making the sound and movement.

from  form

movement solo premiere at Tempo, NZ Festival of Dance, Arts Centre Cootamundra and TBC international gala.

bxls

great auburn clouds stalked the sky God
they weren't sure he existed, for some reason they were skeptic
the humans didn't look up when they rumbled. only if one of their own hollowed a great skeptical cloud

through the holes ran much light
it is a wonder nothing was highlighted, as restless sky guards remained restless

good to know their skepticism was Socratic; i wouldn't trust a human that never looked me in the sky

and you you i

i am a machine that wanders your call
and rooms in your cell phone
you can't disconnect me because
you have unlimited downloads
i can be used over and over

i can give, always give
and you will never feel the need to return that
because i feel enough
for the both of us to last

but i wonder how i recharge
or update
let me disassemble and find the rules
i'll call nanna to help us out
i think they had a lot of me back then

and now you're the one whose name I want to see on the screen
it vibrates, but it isn't you
i think you have forgotten or are trying desperately hard not to
